Nasief Smith, Daaron Harrell, Samir Gardner and Rohan Edwards-Grant lived up to their ranking by winning the Section 2 title with a remarkable time of 41.93 seconds! With this victory, they are now the only 4x100m relay team in New York to run under 42 seconds this season! In addition, they broke their own school record once again, solidifying their status as a dominant force in the competition.

Additional standout performances included:

  • Smith, Harrell, Gardner and Edwards-Grant with a valiant second place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21.5;
  • Edwards-Grant, who placed third in the 100m dash with a season-best time of 10.94 seconds;
  • Gardner, who secured third place in the long jump with an impressive leap of 23 feet, 4 inches!

Wednesday's meet marked the conclusion of the regular outdoor track season, and the team has achieved significant milestones as they head into the postseason.

Currently, the 4x100m relay team is favored to win the state title, while the 4x400m relay ranks among the top six in New York. Both relay teams are automatically qualified for the New York State Championship, and Gardner has also qualified for states in the long jump.

The excitement surrounding the team is palpable as they prepare for the upcoming weeks. Mark your calendars for the New York State Championship, which will be held June 13-14 in Middletown.
