Weather reminders for week of June 23-27

With extreme heat in the forecast for the start of next week, we wanted to send out a reminder about outdoor activities when the heat index – a combination of air temperature and humidity – is above 95 degrees.

The current forecast calls for the heat index to be above 95 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week — and well above 100 on Monday and Tuesday.  It is expected to drop below 90 next Thursday and Friday.

In alignment with our district Weather Emergency Procedures, when the heat index is 95 or above all activities must stay inside. Field trips scheduled for the week will continue as planned, but with appropriate precautions in place.

Air conditioning systems will be running on 24-hour cycles throughout the week, and we encourage all employees and students to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when the weather is extremely hot. Staying hydrated also is a priority when the weather gets as hot as the forecast is calling for next week.

Please be on the lookout for additional communications as we monitor the forecast.
