Graduation 2026: caps, gowns & tickets
We have extended the deadline for placing your order for caps and gowns, as well as reserving tickets. See details below:
- Place the order for your cap and gown by Sunday, April 12.
- The MVP Arena will require tickets for all guests at this year's graduation celebration. Each graduate may reserve up to 15 tickets. Tickets are free and can be secured . Please order your tickets by Friday, May 1.
Parents and loved ones, we have an option to that will be available for pick-up right at the venue the day of the event.

Falcons in the arts
Our Falcons have been shining bright in the arts!
- On Tuesday, Albany High hosted the , featuring elementary, middle and high school students from throughout the district!
- Students in our Albany High Night School program have created magnificent murals at the Abrookin Career and Technical Center building where they attend evening classes.

Albany High School earned nominations in four different categories for the 10th Annual High School Musical Theatre Awards for their production of "Mean Girls" High School Version": Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Orchestra, Outstanding Choreography Execution and Outstanding Supporting Performer: Everett Mercier. Additionally, Ian Roach and Maeve Stein have received a callback for Outstanding Lead Performer. Check out this news story to learn more!
Also, we are counting the days until the 2026 Media Arts Festival, which will be hosted at Albany High on Thursday, April 23! During the day, students from 16 schools from across the Capital Region will gather together at Albany High to explore and share their creative efforts in the media arts. Students, families and community members are invited to an informal evening reception at Albany High from 6-7 p.m.
Scholarship Opportunities

Online Success Program: Spring Recess
Our Online Success Center Program allows students to raise their grade for previous quarters. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Falcons to earn back credit and enhance their academic achievement! Students who are currently enrolled in the program are invited to participate in our sessions held during Spring Recess. for details.
Spring sports round up
Competitions have begun for our student-athletes playing spring sports!
- Falcon fans enjoyed cheering on our , and in their first home games of the season. Congratulations to our girls' lacrosse team on an exciting 11-3 win over Schenectady-Mohonasen-Schalmont!
- Boys' tennis had a thrilling 6-3 win at Colonie on Wednesday. Congratulations to number one doubles team Andrew Fish and Ywa Hai Blut for a 6-0, 6-0 match win!

Falcons shine at JROTC Fitness Competition
On Saturday, 36 of our Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) students from the Sergeant Henry Johnson Battalion faced off against Westhill, CBA and Mexico High School at the JROTC Fitness Competition hosted here at Albany High School. Stock savvy Falcons
On Friday, 57 Albany High students proved their wealth of knowledge in the world of finance by placing third—both as a team and as a school—in the 2026 Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge!
A four-student Falcon team—Alina Mujic, Francis Raguindin, Yomar Santiago, and Isabella VanFonda—earned third place overall with a strong 39.65% return, growing a $1,000,000 starting portfolio into $1,396,475 through careful and strategic trading.
Albany High also received the third-place school award for our students’ collective performance.
Senior-junior prom: Masquarade Ball
Our senior-junior prom, Masquarade Ball, will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 6-10 p.m. at the Albany Capital Center, located at 55 Eagle St. in Albany. Tickets are $80 for each attendee, and tickets will be on sale at the Albany High Box Office periods 4-7 from March 23-May 15. Cash, check and money orders are accepted, and there will not be any refunds. The ticket price includes dinner.
Students are reminded that they need to bring their student ID to the event for entry. Students who would like to bring a guest from another school must fill out a form, which is available in their academy office.

Falcons craft Adirondack chairs
Students in Art Erbe's Construction Technology III class have completed 14 custom, handcrafted Adirondack chairs as part of their work-based learning here at Albany High. Check out this news story to read all about their project.
Free meals over Spring Recess
The City School District of Albany is grateful to our community partners for providing free lunch during next week's Spring Break. There will be five locations throughout the City of Albany and the sites are open to all students from Monday (April 6)-Friday (April 10). Check out this news story for details.
Serve Albany Brunch: April 16
Our Serve Albany Brunch will take place on Thursday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Albany High auditorium!
We are seeking students who are willing to share their voice and perspectives with non-profit leaders who are serving the City of Albany. These leaders desire to better understand what is important to young people, and they want to hear your ideas and thoughts on how we can partner together to make positive changes.
Students will be invited to share input on the topic of increasing or creating centralized support locations for people in crisis. Please note the conversations may include sensitive topics such as substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, homelessness, et cetera.
Seats are limited and sign up is required via a Google Form, which was sent to students via their school email.
Students must attend for the entire event, which lasts from 10 a.m. to noon. This will be an excused absence from class, but you are still expected to coordinate with your teacher to make up any work missed.
A free brunch provided by Honest Weight Food Co-op will be available to students who participate.

- The Falcon Market at Albany High has been chosen as a beneficiary for Market 32 and Price Chopper’s “Fill a Plate with Hope” campaign, an initiative to help support local food pantries and families in need through a convenient, in-store food drive! Through Saturday, April 4, when you shop at Market 32 on Madison Avenue, you can help fill the shelves of our Albany High Falcon Market by purchasing a $10 “Fill a Plate with Hope” bag packed with food essentials. !
- The Albany Parent Teacher Student Association is spearheading a Spring Donation Drive to collect toiletries and personal care items for our Falcon Market. to learn more!

Our spring College Fair will take place on Friday, April 17, from 9–11 a.m.! Students should stop by the College and Career Center (Room 1230) to sign up to participate. Registration closes on Thursday, April 16. for more details!

Falcons, we are so pumped to have author Gail Jarrow visit the Albany High Library on Tuesday, April 21! This talented author writes nonfiction about a variety of topics, such as diseases, secrets, spiritualists from history and war. Marvelous musicians
On Wednesday, our All-City Concert series continued with moving performances at our All-City Strings Concert featuring elementary, middle and high school students from throughout the district! Our Mock Trial team is undefeated!
On Tuesday evening, and played the defense. Our Falcons brought home their second win of the season and are now the top-seeded team heading into the next round of competition. Congratulations to the entire team on a well-earned victory — we are so proud of you!
Shifting power for the greater good
Our seniors have been hard at work developing their Seal of Civic Readiness capstone projects! During a recent power mapping workshop, students crafted a visual map to identify who holds influence and power in their community. By pinpointing stakeholders, students were able to better understand the relationships that drive meaningful change around a civic issue. Check out this news story to learn more!

Open Forum: Albany Booster Club Leadership Positions
Are you interested in learning more about the leadership positions in The Albany Booster Club? Join the this coming Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. to learn more!
The Albany Booster Club is a volunteer-run organization that raises funds to support the co-curricular and athletic experiences of students at Albany High School. They contribute over $30,000 annually to the student experience for students in grades 9-12.
Many of their current officers are the parents of seniors and will be leaving the board. Please consider attending this forum to speak directly to the current officers and learn about the various duties and responsibilities involved in each role. They are excited to help new leaders get involved to ensure the organization keeps thriving! Check out this news story to learn more.

- Our unified bowling team came together for a joyful on Thursday evening at Del Lanes. The event featured a spirited competition among students, their coach and district staff, along with a delicious meal afterward.

TeenXcel
TeenXcel is an awesome after-school program taking place every Tuesday from March 17–June 16 at 420 Western Ave.! This free program is for students ages 13-18 and it offers a nutritious meal and structured enrichment activities, including basketball and e-gaming, to support participants’ physical, social and emotional development. Guided by trained YMCA staff and volunteers, TeenXcel also cultivates positive peer relationships and provides teens with access to adult mentors and role models.

Paid summer internship opportunity with New York State Senate
New York State Senate is offering an exciting summer internship program, and we wanted to help spread the word to Albany High students and families! The internship is a six‑week, on‑site program in which high school students get hands-on experience in creating PDFs, learning each stage of the printing process and designing pamphlets and brochures, along with many other valuable professional development skills.
The internship runs 20 hours per week from July 6 through Aug. 14 and is paid—an excellent chance for students to earn while they learn. This year’s application deadline is March 31.

Summer Youth Employment Program
The City of Albany is accepting registration through March 31 for the 2026 LIGHT Summer Youth Employment Program. The LIGHT Program – Learning, Initiative and Gaining Headway Together – will run from July 6–August 7. The program is open to youth aged 14-18 who live in Albany. Youth employees will work up to 20 hours per week, earn $16.00 per hour and must meet all eligibility and orientation requirements to participate. Check out this news story to learn more!
If students need assistance with printing out the paperwork or have questions, they are welcome to visit the College and Career Center (Room 1230) after school on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3:30-4:30 p.m. College and Career Counselor Jen Quinn is happy to provide assistance.
